Protein yang dikod oleh gen ini ialah ahli famili apolipoprotein C1. Gen ini dinyatakan terutamanya di dalam hati dan diaktifkan apabila monosit dibezakan menjadi makrofaj. Satu pseudogen bagi gen ini terletak 4 kb ke hilir pada orientasi yang sama di dalam kromosom yang sama. Gen ini dipetakan pada kromosom 19 and menghuni di dalam kelompok gen apoliprotein. Varian-varian transkrip bersambat telah dijumpai untuk gen ini, tetapi kesahan biologi bagi sesetengah varian masih tidak dapat ditentukan.[4]
