Festival Filem Cannes 2011

Festival Filem Cannes tahunan ke-64 telah diadakan dari May 11 hingga May 22, 2011.[1] Pelakon Amerika Robert De Niro berkhidmat sebagai presiden juri untuk kompetisi utama [2][3] dan pembuat filem Perancis Michel Gondry menuju juri untuk persaingan film pendek.[4] pengarah filem Korea Selatan Bong Joon-ho adalah ketua juri untuk hadiah Camera d'Or, yang diberikan kepada pembuat filem pertama kali yang terbaik. Midnight in Paris, ditulis dan diarahkan oleh Woody Allen, membuka upacara.[6][7] Mélanie Laurent hosted the opening and closing ceremonies.[8]

Pengarah Denmark Lars von Trier menimbulkan kontroversi dengan komentar dia dibuat di pemutaran filem Melancholia. Palme d'Or sunting

Palme d'Or telah dimenangi oleh filem Amerika The Tree of Life diarah oleh Terrence Malick.[18] Two of the film's producers, Bill Pohlad and Sarah Green, accepted the prize on behalf of the reclusive Malick.[18][19] The Tree of Life adalah filem Amerika pertama yang memenangi Palme d'Or sejak Fahrenheit 9 /11 pada tahun 2004.

[19] Head of the jury, Robert De Niro, said it was difficult to choose a pemenang, but The Tree of Life "ultimately fit the bill".[19] De Niro explained, "It had the size, the importance, the intention, whatever you want to call it, that seemed to fit the prize."[19]
