Davy Crockett

David "Davy" Crockett (17 Ogos 1786 – 6 Mac 1836) ialah seorang wira rakyat, penghuni sempadan, askar dan politician berbangsa Amerika Syarikat pada abad ke-19. Crockett membesar di Tennessee Timur, di mana beliau mencipta nama sebagai pemburu dan tukang cerita. Setelah dinaik pangkat menjadi kolonel militia Kaunti Lawrence, Tennessee, beliau dipilih ke dalam dewan undangan negeri Tennessee pada tahun 1821. Pada tahun 1826, Crockett menyertai Dewan Perwakilan A.S. Crockett membangkang sekeras-kerasnya sebilangan besar dasar Presiden Andrew Jackson, khususnya Akta Pengusiran Indian. Kecaman Crockett terhadap dasar-dasar Jackson menyebabkan beliau tewas pada pilihan raya 1834 lalu berpindah Texas dengan perasaan marah sejurus selepas itu. Pada awal tahun 1836, Crockett berjuang dalam Revolusi Texas dan terkorban di Pertempuran Alamo pada bulan Mac.

Sewaktu hidup, Crockett menjadi terkenal dengan pertualangan hebat yang dilariskan oleh pementasan drama dan almanak. Selepas meninggal dunia, beliau masih dikenang kerana lagak-lagak muka tebal yang begitu luar biasa, terutamanya adaptasi filem dan televisyen pada abad ke-20, maka beliau menjadi salah seorang wira rakyat Amerika yang paling terkenal.
