Hendrik Lorentz
Hendrik Antoon Lorentz (/ˈlɒrənts/; 18 Julai 1853 - 4 Feb 1928) ialah ahli fizik Belanda yang berkongsi Hadiah Nobel dalam Fizik 1902 dengan Pieter Zeeman untuk penemuan dan penjelasan teori kesan Zeeman . Beliau juga memperoleh persamaan transformasi yang menyokong teori relativiti khas Albert Einstein.

Menurut biografi yang diterbitkan oleh Yayasan Nobel, "Mungkin dikatakan bahawa Lorentz dianggap oleh semua ahli fizik teori sebagai semangat terkemuka di dunia, yang menyelesaikan apa yang belum selesai oleh pendahulunya dan menyediakan alasan untuk penerimaan baru yang baru idea berasaskan teori kuantum".[1] Beliau menerima banyak penghormatan dan kepelbagaian, termasuk istilah sebagai pengerusi Jawatankuasa Antarabangsa mengenai Kerjasama Intelek,[2] pelopor UNESCO, antara 1925 dan 1928.
