The [[SchoolSijil CertificatePersekolahan]] is awarded by the [[Board of Studies]] to students at the end of Year 10. The Certificate is issued by the Board following completion of a Board-approved course of study and completion of the external tests.

The Board administers five external tests in English-literacy, Mathematics, Science, Australian History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship. The tests have no pass or fail but are designed to grade a student on their ability. The results of this test are categorised into bands 1 through to 6 with band 1 as the lowest and band 6 as the highest.<ref>[http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/schoolcertificate/sc_intro.html Introduction to the School Certificate - Board of Studies NSW]</ref>
