Cheech Marin

Richard Anthony "Cheech" Marin (lahir 13 Julai 1946) ialah seorang pelakon, pelawak, pelakon suara latar dan penulis dari Amerika Syarikat yang mendapat pengiktirafan sebagai sebahagian daripada pentas komedi Cheech & Chong semasa 1970-an dan awal 1980-an bersama Tommy Chong, dan sebagai rakan kongsi Don Johnson, Insp. Joe Dominguez, dalam Nash Bridges. Beliau juga telah menyuarakan watak-watak dalam beberapa produksi Disney, termasuk Oliver & Company, The Lion King, It’s Tough to Be a Bug!, Cars, Cars 2 dan Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Kehidupan awal sunting

Marin dilahirkan di Los Angeles, California, anak Oscar Marin, seorang anggota polis dalam LAPD, dan isterinya Elsa (Meza), seorang setiausaha. Beliau merupakan Mexico Amerika. Marin dilahirkan dengan bibir, yang telah dibaiki. Beliau bercakap beberapa Sepanyol dan menggunakannya dalam filem, tetapi dia tidak fasih.

Nama samaran Marin "Cheech" adalah singkatan daripada "chicharron", kulit babi goreng yang adalah makanan ringan popular dalam masakan Mexico dan kegemaran perokok ganja ditimpa "munchies", dan aliterasi nama samaran dengan nama keluarga Chong dibuat "Cheech dan Chong" pilihan yang jelas untuk nama kedua-duanya.

Dia merasakan bahawa ia adalah penting untuk "menggunakan status selebriti beliau untuk membawa perhatian kepada apa yang dilihatnya sebagai gaya kurang dihargai dan kurang diwakili seni."

Beliau juga seorang pemain golf, walaupun pada mulanya dia tidak suka sukan itu sehingga beliau bersama-membintangi Tin Cup.

Kehidupan peribadi sunting

Marin telah berkahwin dalam tahun 1975 kepada Darlene Morley, yang menerbitkan bersama-sama Cheech & Chong The Corsican Brothers dan juga memainkan peranan kecil dalam filem awal Cheech & Chong di bawah nama Rikki Marin. Pasangan itu mempunyai seorang anak dan bercerai pada 1984. Marin berkahwin dengan aertis Patti Heid pada tahun 1986; mereka mempunyai dua orang anak dan telah bercerai. Patti bertanggungjawab kerana kepentingannya dalam Chicano Art. Marin berkahwin teman wanita lama beliau, pemain piano Federation Natasha Rubin, pada 8 Ogos 2009, dalam satu majlis matahari terbenam di rumah mereka.

Marin tinggal di California.
