J. Stuart Blackton

James Stuart Blackton (Januari 5, 1875 – Ogos 13, 1941) merupakan seorang pengarah dan penerbit era filem bisu British dan Amerika. Salah satu pelopor gambar gerakan, dia diasaskan Vitagraph Studios pada tahun 1897. Beliau adalah salah seorang pembuat filem pertama yang menggunakan teknik gerak henti dan animasi berlukis, dianggap sebagai bapa animasi Amerika, dan merupakan yang pertama membawa banyak drama dan buku klasik ke skrin. Blackton juga merupakan komodor/laksamana pertama dari Atlantic Yacht Club.[1]

Blackton meninggal pada 13 Ogos 1941, beberapa hari selepas dia dilanggar oleh sebuah kereta ketika melintasi jalan bersama anak lelakinya.[1][2]Pada masa kematiannya, dia sedang menyiapkan Hal Roach untuk bereksperimen meningkatkan latar belakang proses warna.[3] Blackton telah dikebumikan di Perkuburan Forest Lawn Memorial Park di Glendale, California.[4]
