Pusat Galaksi (Jawi: ڤوست ڬالكسي) ialah pusat putaran galaksi Bima Sakti. Ia terletak pada jarak 8.33 ± 0.35 kpc (~ 27,000 ± 1,000 tahun cahaya) dari Bumi[1][2][3][4][5] dalam arah buruj Sagittarius,Ophiuchus, dan Scorpius di mana Bima Sakti kelihatan paling terang. Terdapat bukti kukuh yang menyokong kewujudan lubang gergasi besar hitam di Pusat Galaksi Bima Sakti.

Jarak ke Pusat Galaksi sunting

Jarak yang tepat antara Sistem Suria dan Pusat Galaksi adalah tidak pasti,[6] walaupun anggaran sejak tahun 2000 masih berada dalam julat 7.2–8.8 kpc.[7] Anggaran terbaru dari kaedah berasaskan geometri dan lilin piawai menghasilkan jarak berikut ke Pusat Galaksi:

  • 7.4±0.2(stat) ± 0.2(syst) atau 7.4±0.3 kpc (≈24±kly)[7]
  • 7.62±0.32 kpc (≈24.8±1 kly)[8]
  • 7.7±0.7 kpc (≈25.1±2.3 kly)[4]
  • 7.94 atau 8.0±0.5 kpc (≈26±1.6 kly)[1][2][3]
  • 7.98±0.15(stat) ± 0.20(syst) atau 8.0±0.25 kpc (≈26±0.8 kly)[9]
  • 8.33±0.35 kpc (≈27±1.1 kly)[5]
  • 8.7±0.5 kpc (≈28.4±1.6 kly)[10]

Penentuan jarak yang tepat ke Pusat Galaksi seperti yang diasaskan dari bintang berubah (cth. RR Lyrae berubah) atau lilin piawai (cth. bintang rumpun merah) dihalang oleh kesan yang tidak terkira banyaknya, yang termasuk: hukum pemerahan yang samar-samar; satu kecenderungan untuk nilai-nilai yang lebih kecil jarak ke Pusat Galaksi kerana persampelan keutamaan bintang ke arah dekat bonjolan galaksi kerana pemupusan antarnajam; dan ketidakpastian dalam mencirikan bagaimana jarak purata kepada sekumpulan bintang berubah dari arah bonjolan galaksi berkaitan dengan jarak ke Pusat Galaksi.[11][12]
