Reumatologi

Reumatologi (Greek ῥεῦμα, rheûma, arus mengalir) ialah cabang perubatan yang ditumpukan kepada diagnosis dan terapi penyakit reumatik. Doktor yang telah menjalani latihan formal dalam reumatologi dipanggil Ahli reumatologi. Ahli reumatologi berurusan terutamanya dengan gangguan imun-mediated sistem muskuloskeletal, tisu lembut, penyakit autoimun, radang pembuluh darah, dan gangguan tisu perantara yang merugikan.

Banyak penyakit ini kini dikenali sebagai gangguan sistem imun. Reumatologi dianggap sebagai kajian dan amalan imunologi perubatan.

Bermula pada tahun 2000-an, penggabungan ubat-ubatan yang dipanggil biologik (yang termasuk inhibitor TNF-alfa, interleukin tertentu, dan laluan isyarat JAK-STAT) ke dalam piawai penjagaan adalah salah satu perkembangan yang paling penting dalam rheumatologi moden.^[1]

Sejarah

Reumaurgeri muncul dalam kerjasama ahli reumatologi dan pakar bedah ortopedik di Heinola, Finland, pada tahun 1950-an.^[2]

Pada 1970, siasatan Norway menganggarkan bahawa sekurang-kurangnya 50% pesakit yang mengalami gejala reumatik memerlukan reumasurgeri sebagai bahagian bersepadu rawatan mereka.^[3]

Persatuan Pembedahan Artritis Reumatoid Eropah (ERASS) ditubuhkan pada tahun 1979.^[4]

Sekitar giliran abad ini, tumpuan untuk rawatan pesakit yang mengalami penyakit reumatik beralih, dan rawatan farmakologi menjadi dominan, sementara campur tangan pembedahan menjadi jarang.^[5]^[6]
