Sergei Novikov (ahli matematik)

Sergei Petrovich Novikov (juga Serguei ) ( Bahasa Rusia : Серге́й Петро́вич Но́виков ) (lahir 20 Mac 1938) merupakan seorang ahli matematik Soviet dan Rusia, terkenal kerana bekerja dalam kedua-dua topologi algebra dan teori soliton . Pada tahun 1970, beliau memenangi Pingat Fields .

Novikov dilahirkan pada 20 Mac 1938 di Gorky, Kesatuan Soviet (kini Nizhny Novgorod, Rusia ).

Beliau dibesarkan dalam keluarga ahli matematik yang berbakat. Bapanya ialah Pyotr Sergeyevich Novikov, yang memberikan penyelesaian negatif kepada perkataan masalah untuk kumpulan . Ibunya, Lyudmila Vsevolodovna Keldysh, dan bapa saudara sebelah ibu, Mstislav Vsevolodovich Keldysh, juga merupakan ahli matematik yang penting.

Pada tahun 1955 Novikov telah memasuki Universiti Negeri Moscow, dari mana beliau lulus pada tahun 1960. Empat tahun kemudian beliau menerima Anugerah Persatuan Matematik Moscow untuk ahli matematik muda. Pada tahun yang sama beliau mempertahankan disertasi untuk Ijazah Calon Sains dalam Fizik dan Matematik (bersamaan dengan PhD ) di Universiti Negeri Moscow. Pada tahun 1965 beliau mempertahankan disertasi untuk ijazah Doktor Sains dalam Fizik dan Matematik di sana. Pada tahun 1966 beliau menjadi ahli Koresponden Akademi Sains Kesatuan Soviet .
