Teori pilihan rasional

Teori pilihan rasional merujuk kepada satu tetapan garis panduan yang membantu memahami tingkah laku ekonomi dan sosial.[1] Teori ini menyatakan bahawa seseorang akan melakukan analisis kos-manfaat untuk menentukan sama ada pilihan yang tepat untuk mereka.[2] Ini juga menunjukkan bahawa tindakan rasional yang digerakkan sendiri oleh individu akan membantu ekonomi keseluruhan yang lebih baik. Teori pilihan rasional melihat tiga konsep: pelaku rasional, minat diri dan tangan yang tidak kelihatan.[3]

Rasionaliti boleh digunakan sebagai andaian untuk tingkah laku individu dalam pelbagai konteks di luar ekonomi. Ini juga digunakan dalam sains politik,[4] sosiologi, [5] dan falsafah.
