Cadangan sekatan terhadap Hati Yang Dikhianati Aka My 3 SistersSunting

Polar (bincang) 12:04, 5 Januari 2022 (UTC)
Sama juga di sini. Jangan beri kompromi. SNN95 Letter.jpg LAPIZ.SVG 13:56, 5 Januari 2022 (UTC)

Menyeragamkan penamaan kategori jalanSunting

@Wiki Farazi, PeaceSearcher, Polar, Tofeiku, Fandi89, Jeluang Terluang, Zahirulnukman, EmpAhmadK, dan Ceball1923: Maaf sebab ping anda semua.

Saya sekrang mahu menyeragamkan penamaan kategori "Category:Roads in XYZ" ini.

  1. Kategori:Jalan di XYZ
  2. Kategori:Jalan raya di XYZ

Lagi satu, saya nak selaraskan dengan "Category:List of roads in XYZ". SNN95 Letter.jpg LAPIZ.SVG 03:03, 7 Januari 2022 (UTC)

Saya cadangkan guna perkataan "Jalan raya". Mungkin itu sesuai xD Wiki Farazi bincang 03:09, 7 Januari 2022 (UTC)
Saya pon rasa yang tu lagi sesuai. Cuma sekarang ni apa kata yang lain. SNN95 Letter.jpg LAPIZ.SVG 03:30, 7 Januari 2022 (UTC)
Yes check.svg Setuju diseragamkan atas nama jalan raya. — Jeluang Terluang (bincang) 10:39, 7 Januari 2022 (UTC)

SNN95 Letter.jpg LAPIZ.SVG 09:31, 12 Februari 2022 (UTC)

Sandbox linkSunting

Apologies for writing in English. Please feel free to translate my text.

I'm holding a global RFC regarding Sandbox link (example) at Meta: m:Requests for comment/Enable sandbox for all Wikipedias. I was told by User:Lucas Werkmeister that Bahasa Melayu Wikipedia as a large project does not have Sandbox link enabled.

  • Does Bahasa Melayu Wikipedia want the Sandbox link enabled?

If there is consensus for enabling that on Bahasa Melayu Wikipedia, I will do that as part of the global settings. But if Bahasa Melayu Wikipedia does not want that, I can simply omit the Bahasa Melayu Wikipedia from my proposal. No hard feelings at all :) I have personally not found Sandbox links harmful in any way, shape, or form. Thanks 4nn1l2 (bincang) 02:29, 19 Februari 2022 (UTC)

Perlukah ada Kategori:Orang mononim MalaysiaSunting

Saya ingin bertanyakan soalan, perlukah adanya Kategori:Orang mononim Malaysia? Terima kasih.-Fandi89 (bincang) 03:05, 3 Mac 2022 (UTC)

Pada pandangan saya, tak perlu diwujudkan. Jika perlu diwujudkan sekalipun, ia ialah subkategori di bawah Kategori:Nama Manusia, bukan penyanyi, pelakon sebagaimana sekarang. Zahirul Nukman (sumb. | bincang) 03:51, 3 Mac 2022 (UTC)
Wiki Farazi bincang 11:50, 3 Mac 2022 (UTC)

Rollout of the new audio and video playerSunting

Please help translate to your language

Hello,

Over the next months we will gradually change the audio and video player of Wikis from Kultura to Video.js and with that, the old player won’t be accessible anymore. The new player has been active as a beta feature since May 2017.

The new player has many advantages, including better design, consistent look with the rest of our interface, better compatibility with browsers, ability to work on mobile which means our multimedia will be properly accessible on iPhone, better accessibility and many more.

The old player has been unmaintained for eight years now and is home-brewn (unlike the new player which is a widely used open source project) and uses deprecated and abandoned frameworks such as jQuery UI. Removing the old player’s code also improves performance of the Wikis for anyone visiting any page (by significantly reducing complexity of the dependency graph of our ResourceLoader modules. See this blog post.). The old player has many open bugs that we will be able to close as resolved after this migration.

The new player will solve a lot of old and outstanding issues but also it will have its own bugs. All important ones have been fixed but there will be some small ones to tackle in the future and after the rollout.

What we are asking now is to turn on the beta feature for the new player and let us know about any issues.

You can track the work in T100106

Thank you, Amir 17:59, 17 Februari 2022 (UTC)

Survey: Help improve KartographerSunting

Technical Wishes Geoinfo Logo.svg

Apologies for writing in English. If anyone could help translate this message, it would be deeply appreciated.

Do you create interactive maps with Kartographer (mapframe)? If your answer is yes, we would like to hear from you. Please take part in our survey and help improve Kartographer! Where do you run into problems using it? Which new features would you like to see? Editors of all experience levels and with all workflows around Kartographer are welcome to participate.

Here is the survey: https://wikimedia.sslsurvey.de/Kartographer-Workflows-EN/

  • The survey is open until March 31.
  • It takes 10-15 minutes to complete.
  • The survey is anonymous. You don't need to register, and we will not store any personal data which identifies you, such as your name or IP address.

Unfortunately, the survey is only available in English, but we have tried our best to use simple English and to add visual examples. If English is not your native language, it might help to use a translation tool in your browser.

Some background: Wikimedia Germany's Technical Wishes team is currently working on the Kartographer extension. Over the last few months, we have been working on a solution to make this software usable on wikis where it isn’t available yet. In the next phase of the project, we are planning to improve Kartographer itself. Because Kartographer is used quite a lot on this wiki, we would love to hear about your experiences. More information on our work with Kartographer and the focus area of Geoinformation can be found on our project page.

Thank you for your help! – Johanna Strodt (WMDE) (bincang) 09:31, 21 Mac 2022 (UTC)

Infobox Country at OlympicsSunting

Hello! Is it possible to create a new template for countries at Olympic Games?. The infobox template that you have now is a bit old and the interface needs changing. Use the Portuguese template as a starting point and see what you can do?. Yours sincerely, Sondre --88.88.4.178 18:34, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

Masalah terhadap tampilan Templat:PendokumenanSunting

Salam sejahtera.

Sekian. 26 Ramadan (bincang) 09:27, 28 Mei 2022 (UTC)

Templat:FlagIOCSunting

Hello! Can you try to synchronise the FlagIOC templates correctly so the flags match the modules?. Try and synchronise flag the historical flags of Canada, Vietnam, Malaya, Hong Kong, India and so forth. Yours sincerely, Sondre 88.88.4.178 20:06, 10 Jun 2022 (UTC)

Templat:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2Sunting

Hello! Is it possible for you to synchronise the templates FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 correctly so the historical flags matches the flag module. The historical flags should reflect the country's development and history over the years.

Templat:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2Sunting

Hello! Can you synchronise the historical flags in the FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 templates so they matches with the Country alias module. The flags needs to match correctly with the years that the nations participated in the competitions. Hong Kong and Canada's flags don't match with the years they participated in Asian Games and the Olympic Games respectively at the 1924 Winter Olympics and the 1954 Asian Games. Templat:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2Sunting

Hello! Can you do something regarding the FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 templates as well as FlagCGF, FlagIOC/FlagIPC, FlagSEAGF and others. The flags of India, Vietnam, Malaya should be correct with what they were in 1934, 1963 and 1973. Yours sincerely, Sondre 88.88.4.178 20:02, 11 Jun 2022 (UTC)

Templat:Infobox Country OlympicsSunting

Hello! Can you do something regarding the template:Infobox Country Olympics?. That template looks a bit old and to out of date for a page like this one. I think it is enough with one country template for competitions and such. I think it is enough to use Templat:Infobox country at games. It would have been great if you have added separate articles for countries at the Olympic Games and started from there. Yours sincerely, Sondre 88.88.4.178 20:10, 11 Jun 2022 (UTC)

Templat:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2Sunting

Hello! Is it possible to correct the historical flag errors in this template?. The flags must be in contrary to the years which the competitions took place. For example the Hong Kong flag for the 1954 Asian Games and the Canadian flag at the 1924 Winter Olympics. The flag should match the Country flag IOC alias template or the Country alias module. And also the flags of Vietnam and Malaya should match with the years they are from and also the historical flag of India should do that. Yours sincerely, Sondre 88.88.4.178 09:38, 12 Jun 2022 (UTC)

Templat:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2Sunting

Hello! Can you do something regarding the historical flag errors in the FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 templates?. Because I see that the historical flags don't match with the years that the competition was held. For example the flag of Hong Kong at the 1954 Asian Games and the flag of Canada at the 1924 Winter Olympics. And also the flag of India in 1934, the flag of Vietnam in 1973 and the flag of Malaya in 1961. The flags needs to be synchronised correctly with the years that the competitions were held. See what you do can about that. Yours sincerely, Sondre 88.88.4.178 09:42, 12 Jun 2022 (UTC)

Template:FlagIOCSunting

Hello! Can you take a look into the Templat:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 regarding the historical flags in that template. For example the flags of Hong Kong at the 1954 Asian Games and the Flag of Canada at the 1924 Winter Olympics and also the historical flags of India in 1934, Malaysia in 1961 and Vietnam in 1973. The flags should match with the Country alias module and see what you can do about that?.

Yours sincerely, Sondre 88.88.4.178 13:04, 13 Jun 2022 (UTC)

Templat:FlagIOCSunting

Hello! Can you do something regarding the usage section in the Template:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 so it can be translated to your language and also the example section as well. Can you also correct the historical flag errors for both Hong Kong and Canada so the flags match with the year that the aforementioned competition was held. And also the historical flags of India, Malaya and Vietnam so the historical flags match with the years the flags should be from and also so they match with the country alias module. Historical flags in Olympic articlesSunting

FlagIOC templateSunting

Hello! Can you take a look into the flagIOC template and the historical flags which are placed there. I think the main problem lies in the way the words are arranged you use a different wording arrangement and that creates a mix-up. You use <event name> and <year> instead of <year> and <event name> as on English pages. Try to synchronize the flags more fluidly. And can you also translate the usage section to your language. Yours sincerely, Sondre 193.161.216.9 10:35, 23 Jun 2022 (UTC)

Modul:Country alias and FlagIOC templateSunting

Hwello! Can you try to synchronise the historical flag in the Modul:Country alias and the FlagIOC templates with each other so they match the exact competition which the flags were used in for example Hong Kong at the 1954 Asian Games and Canada at the 1924 Winter Olympics and also the Flags of Malaya in 1961 and Vietnam in 1973. FlagIOC templateSunting

Hello! Is it possible for you to take a look into the FlagIOC template and the historical flags which are in there?. The code and syntax must match together with the template. Templat:Infobox Country OlympicsSunting

Hello! Can you take a look into the Infobox Country Olympics and do some changes there?. This template was created by user who has not been active for a year now. It would be better with an infobox template with parameters and fields in your language. You translated it from English in 2008 when it existed on the English page. It works to some extent. You must find someone who can understand it better. See if you change it deeply if necessary. It is a complicated job to do. Yours sincerely, Sondre 88.88.4.178 12:10, 7 Ogos 2022 (UTC)

Call for Feedback about the Board of Trustees elections is now openSunting

You can find this message translated into additional languages on Meta-wiki.

The Call for Feedback: Board of Trustees elections is now open and will close on 7 February 2022.

With this Call for Feedback, the Movement Strategy and Governance team is taking a different approach. This approach incorporates community feedback from 2021. Instead of leading with proposals, the Call is framed around key questions from the Board of Trustees. The key questions came from the feedback about the 2021 Board of Trustees election. The intention is to inspire collective conversation and collaborative proposal development about these key questions.

There are two confirmed questions that will be asked during this Call for Feedback:

  1. What is the best way to ensure more diverse representation among elected candidates? The Board of Trustees noted the importance of selecting candidates who represent the full diversity of the Wikimedia movement. The current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Europe.
  2. What are the expectations for the candidates during the election? Board candidates have traditionally completed applications and answered community questions. How can an election provide appropriate insight into candidates while also appreciating candidates’ status as volunteers?

There is one additional question that may be presented during the Call about selection processes. This question is still under discussion, but the Board wanted to give insight into the confirmed questions as soon as possible. Hopefully if an additional question is going to be asked, it will be ready during the first week of the Call for Feedback.

Join the conversation.

Best,

Movement Strategy and Governance

Additional question to the Call for Feedback about the Board of Trustees electionsSunting

Dear ESEAP project communities,

I am reaching out to you today about an additional question to the Call for Feedback about Board of Trustees elections that I posted above. The Board has approved an additional question which we seek feedback to:

How should affiliates participate in the elections? Affiliates are an important part of the Wikimedia movement. Two seats of the Board of Trustees due to be filled this year were filled in 2019 through the Affiliate-selected Board seats process. A change in the Bylaws removed the distinction between community and affiliate seats. This leaves the important question: How should affiliates be involved in the selection of new seats?

The Board of Trustees is seeking feedback about this last question especially, although not solely, from the affiliate community. Everyone is invited to share proposals and join the conversation in the Call for Feedback channels. In addition to collecting online feedback, the Movement Strategy and Governance team will organize several video calls with affiliate members to collect feedback. These calls will be at different times and include Trustees.

On behalf of the Movement Strategy and Governance team,

Updates on the Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Guidelines ReviewSunting

You can find this message translated into additional languages on Meta-wiki.

Hello everyone,

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees released a statement on the ratification process for the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) Enforcement Guidelines.

The Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) provides a baseline of acceptable behavior for the entire movement. The UCoC and the Enforcement Guidelines were written by volunteer-staff drafting committees following community consultations.

The revised guidelines were published 24 January 2022 as a proposed way to apply the policy across the movement. There is a list of changes made to the guidelines after the enforcement draft guidelines review. Comments about the guidelines can be shared on the Enforcement Guidelines talk page on Meta-wiki.

To help to understand the guidelines and process, the Movement Strategy and Governance (MSG) team will be hosting Conversation Hours on 4 February 2022 at 15:00 UTC, 25 February 2022 at 12:00 UTC, and 4 March 2022 at 15:00 UTC. Join the conversation hours to speak with the UCoC project team and drafting committee members about the updated guidelines and voting process.

The timeline is available on Meta-wiki. The voting period is March 7 to 21. All eligible voters will have an opportunity to support or oppose the adoption of the Enforcement guidelines, and share why. See the voting information page for more details.

Many participants from across the movement have provided valuable input in these ongoing conversations. The UCoC and MSG teams want to thank the Drafting Committee and the community members for their contributions to this process.

Sincerely,

Movement Strategy and Governance

Make working with templates easier: Several improvements coming to your wiki soon.Sunting

I love templates hexagon.png

Hello! A few months ago, your wiki received these improvements from the Templates project by Wikimedia Deutschland’s Technical Wishes team:

  • Finding and inserting templates became easier with an improved search and added warnings. (1)
  • In VisualEditor, can now remove a template from a page via the context menu, just like removing a table or an image. (2)
  • Also in VisualEditor, several fundamental improvements were done in the template dialog. (3)
  • A new attribute “suggested values” was introduced to help you clarify what values a parameter may expect. (4)
  • When using syntax highlighting, line numbers are shown in the template namespace. (5)
A few wikis have these line numbers in all namespaces. If you want this for your wiki as well, please reach out to us.

On March 9, more improvements from the Templates project are coming to this and many more wikis:

  • Matching brackets will be highlighted (when you use syntax highlighting). (6)
  • The color scheme in syntax highlighting will be updated for better readability. (7)

These improvements have been tested on a few other wikis for a few months now, but we’d love to hear what you think of them on the talk pages of the project pages linked above ([1] - [7]).

A few weeks later, we’re also going to add a colorblind-friendly color scheme in syntax highlighting (CodeMirror extension). You’ll be able to activate it via a user setting.

The event will take place on March 12, 13:00 to 16:00 UTC on Zoom. Interpretation will be provided in French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and Portuguese. Registration is open, and will close on March 10. Anyone interested in the topic is invited to join us. More information on the event on Meta-wiki.

Hello,

The Movement Communications and Movement Strategy and Governance teams invite you to discuss the 2022-23 Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan, a plan of record for the Wikimedia Foundation's work.

These conversations continue Maryana Iskander's Wikimedia Foundation Chief Executive Officer listening tour.

The conversations are about these questions:

  • The 2030 Wikimedia Movement Strategy sets a direction toward "knowledge as a service" and "knowledge equity". The Wikimedia Foundation wants to plan according to these two goals. How do you think the Wikimedia Foundation should apply them to our work?
  • The Wikimedia Foundation continues to explore better ways of working at a regional level. We have increased our regional focus in areas like grants, new features, and community conversations. What is working well? How can we improve?
  • Anyone can contribute to the Movement Strategy process. Let's collect your activities, ideas, requests, and lessons learned. How can the Wikimedia Foundation better support the volunteers and affiliates working in Movement Strategy activities?

You can find the schedule of calls on Meta-wiki.

The information will be available in multiple languages. Each call will be open to anyone to attend. Live interpretation will be available in some calls.

Next steps: Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) and UCoC Enforcement GuidelinesSunting

The Community Affairs Committee of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees would like to thank everyone who participated in the recently concluded community vote on the Enforcement Guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC).

The volunteer scrutinizing group has completed the review of the accuracy of the vote and has reported the total number of votes received as 2,283. Out of the 2,283 votes received, a total of 1,338 (58.6%) community members voted for the enforcement guidelines, and a total of 945 (41.4%) community members voted against it. In addition, 658 participants left comments with 77% of the comments written in English.

We recognize and appreciate the passion and commitment that community members have demonstrated in creating a safe and welcoming culture that stops hostile and toxic behavior, supports people targeted by such behavior, and encourages good faith people to be productive on the Wikimedia projects.

Even at this incomplete stage, this is evident in the comments received. While the Enforcement Guidelines did reach a threshold of support necessary for the Board to review, we encouraged voters, regardless of which way they were voting, to provide feedback on the elements of the enforcement guidelines that they felt needed to be changed or fixed, as well as why, in case it seemed advisable to launch a further round of edits that would address community concerns.

Foundation staff who have been reviewing comments have advised us of some of the emerging themes, and as a result we have decided as Community Affairs Committee to ask the Foundation to reconvene the drafting committee and to undertake another community engagement to refine the enforcement guidelines based on the community feedback received from the recently concluded vote.

For clarity, this feedback has been clustered into 4 sections as follows:

  1. To identify the type, purpose, and applicability of the training;
  2. To simplify the language for easier translation and comprehension by non-experts;
  3. To explore the concept of affirmation, including its pros and cons;
  4. To review the conflicting roles of privacy/victim protection and right to be heard.

Other issues may emerge during conversations, and particularly as the draft Enforcement Guidelines evolve, but we see these as the primary areas of concern for voters and are asking staff to facilitate review of these issues. After further engagement, the Foundation should re-run the community vote to evaluate the revamped Enforcement Outline to see if the new document is then ready for its official ratification.

Further, we are aware of the concerns with the note 3.1 in the Universal Code of Conduct Policy. We are directing the Foundation to facilitate a review of this language to ensure that the Policy meets its intended purposes of supporting a safe and inclusive community, without waiting for the planned review of the entire Policy at the end of year.

Again, we thank all who participated, thinking about these critical and difficult challenges and contributing to better approaches across the movement to working together well.

Best,

Rosie

Make working with templates easier: One more improvement coming soon.Sunting

Apologies for writing in English. It would be great if you could help translate this message.

Hello, one more change from WMDE’s focus area “Templates” is coming to your wiki soon: In syntax highlighting (CodeMirror extension), you’ll be able to activate a colorblind-friendly color scheme with a user setting. (project page)

Deployment is planned for May 10. This is the last set of improvements from WMDE’s focus area “Templates”. We would love to hear your feedback.

Thanks for being one of the first wikis to get the improvements from our project, and for giving valuable feedback! – Johanna Strodt (WMDE) (bincang) 09:37, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

Call for volunteers: 2022 Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees electionSunting

<languages/> The Movement Strategy and Governance team is looking for community members to serve as election volunteers in the upcoming Board of Trustees election.

The idea of the Election Volunteer Program came up during the 2021 Wikimedia Board of Trustees Election. This program turned out to be successful. With the help of Election Volunteers we were able to increase outreach and participation in the election by 1,753 voters over 2017. Overall turnout was 10.13%, 1.1 percentage points more, and 214 wikis were represented in the election.

But a total of 74 wikis that did not participate in 2017 produced voters in the 2021 election. Can you help change the participation?

Election volunteers will help in the following areas:

  • Translate short messages and announce the ongoing election process in community channels
  • Optional: Monitor community channels for community comments and questions

Volunteers should:

  • Maintain the friendly space policy during conversations and events
  • Present the guidelines and voting information to the community in a neutral manner

Do you want to be an election volunteer and ensure your community is represented in the vote? Sign up here to receive updates. You can use the talk page for questions about translation.

Vote for Election Compass StatementsSunting

You can find this message translated into additional languages on Meta-wiki.

Hi all,

Volunteers in the 2022 Board of Trustees election are invited to vote for statements to use in the Election Compass. You can vote for the statements you would like to see included in the Election Compass on Meta-wiki.

An Election Compass is a tool to help voters select the candidates that best align with their beliefs and views. The community members will propose statements for the candidates to answer using a Lickert scale (agree/neutral/disagree). The candidates’ answers to the statements will be loaded into the Election Compass tool. Voters will use the tool by entering in their answer to the statements (agree/disagree/neutral). The results will show the candidates that best align with the voter’s beliefs and views.

Here is the timeline for the Election Compass:

  • July 8 - 20: Volunteers propose statements for the Election Compass
  • July 21 - 22: Elections Committee reviews statements for clarity and removes off-topic statements
  • July 23 - August 1: Volunteers vote on the statements
  • August 2 - 4: Elections Committee selects the top 15 statements
  • August 5 - 12: candidates align themselves with the statements
  • August 15: The Election Compass opens for voters to use to help guide their voting decision

The Elections Committee will select the top 15 statements at the beginning of August

Best,

Movement Strategy and Governance

Delay of the 2022 Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees electionSunting

You can find this message translated into additional languages on Meta-wiki.

Hi all,

I am reaching out to you today with an update about the timing of the voting for the Board of Trustees election.

As many of you are already aware, this year we are offering an Election Compass to help voters identify the alignment of candidates on some key topics. Several candidates requested an extension of the character limitation on their responses expanding on their positions, and the Elections Committee felt their reasoning was consistent with the goals of a fair and equitable election process.

To ensure that the longer statements can be translated in time for the election, the Elections Committee and Board Selection Task Force decided to delay the opening of the Board of Trustees election by one week - a time proposed as ideal by staff working to support the election.

Although it is not expected that everyone will want to use the Election Compass to inform their voting decision, the Elections Committee felt it was more appropriate to open the voting period with essential translations for community members across languages to use if they wish to make this important decision.

The voting will open on August 23 at 00:00 UTC and close on September 6 at 23:59 UTC.

Best regards,

Matanya, on behalf of the Elections Committee

Revised Enforcement Draft Guidelines for the Universal Code of ConductSunting

You can find this message translated into additional languages on Meta-wiki.

Hello everyone,

The Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Guidelines Revisions committee is requesting comments regarding the Revised Enforcement Draft Guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC). This review period will be open from 8 September 2022 until 8 October 2022.

The Committee collaborated to revise these draft guidelines based on input gathered from the community discussion period from May through July, as well as the community vote that concluded in March 2022. The revisions are focused on the following four areas:

  1. To identify the type, purpose, and applicability of the UCoC training;
  2. To simplify the language for more accessible translation and comprehension by non-experts;
  3. To explore the concept of affirmation, including its pros and cons;
  4. To review the balancing of the privacy of the accuser and the accused

The Committee requests comments and suggestions about these revisions by 8 October 2022. From there, the Revisions Committee anticipates further revising the guidelines based on community input.

Find the Revised Guidelines on Meta, and a comparison page in some languages.

Everyone may share comments in a number of places. Facilitators welcome comments in any language on the Revised Enforcement Guidelines talk page. Comments can also be shared on talk pages of translations, at local discussions, or during conversation hours. There are a series of conversation hours planned about the Revised Enforcement Guidelines; please see Meta for the times and details.

The facilitation team supporting this review period hopes to reach a large number of communities. If you do not see a conversation happening in your community, please organize a discussion. Facilitators can assist you in setting up the conversations. Discussions will be summarized and presented to the drafting committee every two weeks. The summaries will be published here.

The Vector 2022 skin as the default in two weeks?Sunting

The slides for our presentation at Wikimania 2022

Hello. I'm writing on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation Web team. In two weeks, we would like to make the Vector 2022 skin the default on this wiki.

We have been working on it for the past three years. So far, it has been the default on more than 30 wikis, including sister projects, all accounting for more than 1 billion pageviews per month. On average 87% of active logged-in users of those wikis use Vector 2022.

It would become the default for all logged-out users, and also all logged-in users who currently use Vector legacy. Logged-in users can at any time switch to any other skins. No changes are expected for users of these skins.

About the skinSunting

[Why is a change necessary] The current default skin meets the needs of the readers and editors as these were 13 years ago. Since then, new users have begun using Wikimedia projects. The old Vector doesn't meet their needs.

[Objective] The objective for the new skin is to make the interface more welcoming and comfortable for readers and useful for advanced users. It draws inspiration from previous requests, the Community Wishlist Surveys, and gadgets and scripts. The work helped our code follow the standards and improve all other skins. We reduced PHP code in Wikimedia deployed skins by 75%. The project has also focused on making it easier to support gadgets and use APIs.

[Changes and test results] The skin introduces a series of changes that improve readability and usability. The new skin does not remove any functionality currently available on the Vector skin.

  • The sticky header makes it easier to find tools that editors use often. It decreases scrolling to the top of the page by 16%.
  • The new table of contents makes it easier to navigate to different sections. Readers and editors jumped to different sections of the page 50% more than with the old table of contents. It also looks a bit different on talk pages.
  • The new search bar is easier to find and makes it easier to find the correct search result from the list. This increased the amount of searches started by 30% on the wikis we tested on.
  • The skin does not negatively affect pageviews, edit rates, or account creation. There is evidence of increases in pageviews and account creation across partner communities.

[Try it out] Try out the new skin by going to the appearance tab in your preferences and selecting Vector 2022 from the list of skins.

How can editors change and customize this skin?Sunting

It's possible to configure and personalize our changes. We support volunteers who create new gadgets and user scripts. Check out our repository for a list of currently available customizations, or add your own.

Our planSunting

If no large concerns are raised, we plan on deploying in the week of October 3, 2022. If your community would like to request more time to discuss the changes, hit the button and write to us. We can adjust the calendar.

Also, if you'd like ask our team anything, if you have questions, concerns, or additional thoughts, please ping me here or write on the talk page of the project. We will also gladly answer! See our FAQ. Thank you! SGrabarczuk (WMF) (bincang) 02:54, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
