Laurie Metcalf
Laura Elizabeth "Laurie" Metcalf[1] (lahir 16 Jun 1955) merupakan seorang pelakon wanita Amerika Syarikat. Beliau memulakan kerjayanya di Steppenwolf Theater Company dan sering berlakon dalam teater di Chicago, termasuk drama 1983 berjudul Balm in Gilead. Beliau melakonkan watak sebagai pelakon dalam filem Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), Uncle Buck (1989), Internal Affairs (1990), Pacific Heights (1990), JFK (1991), A Dangerous Woman (1993), Leaving Las Vegas (1995), Dear God (1996), Scream 2 (1997) dan Meet the Robinsons (2007). Beliau menjadi pelakon suara untuk watak Mrs. Davis dalam siri filem Toy Story. Pada tahun 2017, beliau memegang watak sebagai Marion McPherson dalam filem drama komedi Lady Bird karya Greta Gerwig.

Latar belakang sunting
Laurie Metcalf dilahirkan di Carbondale, Illinois. Beliau merupakan anak sulung dari tiga bersaudara, bersama adiknya James dan Linda,[2] dan dibesarkan di Edwardsville, Illinois.[3] Bapanya, James, merupakan seorang pengarah Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, meninggal secara mengejut pada 1984, dan ibunya, Libby, merupakan seorang pustakawan.[4] Ibu saudaranya merupakan dramawan dan penerima anugerah Pulitzer Zoë Akins.[5] Beliau merupakan alumni Universiti Negeri Illinois pada 1976.[6]
