ASSOC. PROF. Ts. DR. JESSICA ONG HAI LIAW

Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Jessica Ong Hai Liaw was a Director of Corporate, Industry Relations and International Affairs in Assistant Vice Chancellor Office for Service, Industry Relations and International Affairs, National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM). Jessica Ong's name has appeared on television as a news presenter for the Berita Dunia slot from August 2004 to June 2020 and has hosted the Bicarawara Global@1 program on RTM, the 1Malaysia Breakfast, and Selamat Pagi Malaysia program. In 2020, Jessica was awarded the title of Ts (Technologist) in the field of Art Design and Creative Multimedia (AM). In 2018, Jessica was also awarded the Special Award on Media and Public Relations by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport while in 2017, Jessica received the Special Award on Leadership in Marketing Communication by the Malaysian Global Business Forum, Terra Value, and the National Council of Professors. In 2021, Jessica was appointed a Women and Society Cluster Fellow by the National Council of Professors. In 2022, Jessica was appointed as Head of Cluster for Media and Communication in The Centre of Women Advancement and Leadership (CWAL) UniKL. He was also appointed as the Media committee in the COVID-19 Communication Task Force by the International Academy of Medicine Malaysia and other NGO's.

Jessica’s specialties are Language Psychology (Psycholinguistics), Communication, Social Integration, Education, and Linguistics. Jessica received a Certificate in Teaching English Studies, Certificate in Executive Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Bachelor of Arts (History, Anthropology, and Sociology) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2001. She was awarded as the best student in Master Bahasa Melayu in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) year 2007, Ph.D. in Psychology and English Language (Psycholinguistics), Communication and Linguistics at the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2010.

Jessica is active in charitable work in Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) until she was appointed Ambassador of the USM Kelantan Child Welfare Association (PEKA), Deputy Chairman of the Malaysian Population Development Organization (PPPM) and as a Chartered Member at The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Malaysia in Media and Public Relations. Jessica was also appointed as Deputy Editor and Reviewer for the Research Journal of GIAP SCOPUS (Humanities and Social Sciences Review) and Editor for the RMP Publication Journal, Journal of Advanced Scientific Research and Management (IJARSM), Shanlax International Journal, and International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (IJRISS). Jessica is the author of the column "Lekat di Hati" in Utusan Malaysia newspaper starting in 2012 and continues to contribute ideas in writing in newspapers and magazines to this day.
