Al-Hassar

Al-Hassar atau Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abdallah ibn Ayyash al-Hassar ialah seorang ahli matematik Muslim dari Maghribi, yang hidup pada kurun ke-12. Beliau menulis Kitab al-bayan wat-tadhkar (Book of Demonstration and Memorization), sebuah manual pengiraan dan Kitab al-kamil fi sinaat al-adad (Complete Book on the Art of Numbers), mengenai pemecahan nombor. Buku pertama hilang dan hanya satu bahagian buku kedua yang tinggal.

Al-Hassar mengembangkan tatatanda matematik simbolik moden bagi pecahan, dengan pengangka dan penyebut dipisahkan oleh palang melintang. Tatatanda pecahan yang sama ini muncul tidak lama kemudian di dalam karya Fibonacci pada kurun ke-13.
